Installation Notes for repowering some Troybilt Pony 
Models with the Briggs 120292-0570 Intek.

This will help with the process for repowering the Troybilt Pony tiller with the Intek OHV engine model **122092-0570 This has the auxiliary PTO shaft on the engine, however the PTO shaft is considerably lower than its L-Head counterpart.

**Note: This engine will replace Briggs engines with code numbers starting at 90 and later on the Troybilt Pony Tiller. (May require spacer kit and belt changes.) Typically will NOT work on 1989 and earlier Pony models.


Below you will see links to larger pictures as well as a 12 step process for this procedure. Click the pictures below for a larger view.

  1. Disconnect throttle cable from engine
  2. Remove belt guard
  3. Remove engine mount bolts (and engine guard if equipped)
  4. Remove original engine from equipment
  5. Transfer drive pulleys from original engine to new Intek engine
  6. Install new drive belts (* replace original main drive belt with belt 2 inches LONGER. (68-1035) Replace reverse drive belt with belt 1 inch SHORTER (37243).
  7. Install Briggs & Stratton engine spacer kit number 695154
  8. Install Intek engine onto equipment
  9. Install engine mounting bolts (longer bolts will be required)
  10. Install belt cover
  11. Lengthen throttle control wire/casing
  12. Service engine and test run
