The New & Improved Performer
Onan Introduces Its First V-Twin, OHV Engine
The new Onan Performer OHV, a V-twin gasoline-powered, 20.5 horsepower overhead valve engine offers dealers a great new service opportunity. The engine is a result of collaborating between Onan and Robin America, Hudson, WI, where technical lead manufacturing on the new Performer takes place. The unit makes its first debut in February 2000 in Hobart Welders' new Champion 10,000 engine-driven welding generator.
"Our past Performer engine is recognized and respected as a reliable workhorse of an engine," says Jim Flowers, acting engine sales manager."The new Performer OHV simply advances these traits with V-twin, overhead valve technology," Flower continues, "Hobart is very excited about this. Our new engine offers another option for them with potential to expand into other Miller and Hobart models."
A product of more than two years of design and development, the new Performer weighs 97 lbs. Its base dimensions measure 12.48" length x 18.78" width x 18.70" height. The Performer OHV features a rugged aluminum block, cast iron cylinder sleeves, large dual element air cleaner, full-pressure lubrication, full flow spin-on oil filter, electronic ignition, 12V solenoid shaft starter, pulse-type fuel pump, and fixed speed governor. The engine also boasts low oil pressure shutdown and one-hundred-hour oil servicing . Its fuel efficiency and 10-gallon fuel tank provide long run times between refuelings.
Onan backs the engine with its three-year limited warranty. The new Performer's service manual (983-0500) parts catalog (983-0200) and engine parts are available from your distributor. Look for more appearances of this engine and its components in upcoming Onan RV products.

Emissions Statement
The Onan Elite and Performer floor care engines are equipped with an automatic shutdown feature designed to stop the engine if tailpipe CO emissions exceed .15% (1500 PPM). As tested according to Onan's test procedure, CO emissions are .015% (150 PPM) for the Elite and .0001% (1 PPM) for the Performer. Of course, we cannot guarantee that all Elite and Performer floor care engines will exhibit these emissions levels when in use. Factors such as the age and condition of the engine, type of installation, and whether proper operation and maintenance procedures are followed, may significantly affect emissions. Further, each operator must be aware of their obligation to monitor indoor air quality and keep the workspace free from unreasonable risks of harm.
